It’s been quite a long time since I’ve picked up a guitar to play. So, rather than strengthen any previous bad habits or create new ones, I decided to start all over again from the basics. The search (via the internet) was on.
Wanting to learn something new, in the privacy of my own home, I thought that perhaps online guitar lessons might be the answer. And, not surprisingly, a number of websites flashed upon my computer screen, begging for review.
First, let’s deal with the Fantasy. Here’s what I envisioned in less than 60 days:
1)    I’d be able to play guitar with wild abandon and supernatural ease.
2)   I’d quit my full-time job and join a Rock-N-Roll band.
3)   I’d become Rich and Famous (or at least just rich).
4)   Groupies would find me irresistible (I’m well past 50).
I’d go on and on with the Fantasy, but I’m sure you get the idea by now. Part of learning to play the guitar somehow must be born in the basement, strumming the Air Guitar, or perhaps performing in the shower. Who knows? Wherever the desire was born, it makes us somehow feel that we actually could learn how to play.
